This month, Norland is proud to celebrate a decade of partnership with Wiltshire First Aid Training – a collaboration that has equipped hundreds of Norland students and staff with essential life-saving skills.

Since 2015, Wiltshire First Aid has delivered high-quality, hands-on training to our students in their first year and during their final term, which is dedicated to pre-employment training. The bespoke paediatric course from Wiltshire First Aid’s outstanding trainers ensures our aspiring Norlanders are confident and prepared to respond in emergency situations.

From CPR and choking response to paediatric first aid and safeguarding, the training is invaluable to our students who care for babies and young children in multiple settings while on placement and in their fourth year as Newly Qualified Nannies in full-time employment with families. Graduate Norland Nannies are required to continue to keep their first aid training up to date throughout their careers through the Norland Agency, completing a 12-hour paediatric first aid course to work in roles through the agency. This is of vital importance, as we are aware of several instances of Norlanders and students saving children’s lives with the skills they have learned in these courses.

Reflecting on the partnership, Principal Dr Janet Rose commented:

“We are delighted to celebrate 10 years working with Wiltshire First Aid to deliver bespoke first aid training to our students and staff. Paediatric first aid training is an essential component of Norland’s early childhood training because it equips our students with the critical skills and knowledge needed to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children is paramount, and this training empowers our graduates to provide a secure and nurturing environment for the young lives in their care.”

Emma Noakes, Training Director at Wiltshire First Aid, shared:

“We are so delighted to be celebrating 10 years of working with Norland. Over the past decade, we’ve had the pleasure of training hundreds of students, helping to equip them with life-saving first aid skills. It’s been a wonderful partnership, and we’re proud to play a small part in the incredible journey of every Norland Nanny.”

To mark this milestone, Wiltshire First Aid presented a specially commissioned cake —complete with the Norland logo — as part of a celebratory visit to our campus on 6 June. The event was attended by staff, including members of the Newly Qualified Nanny (NQN) team, and students.

Wiltshire First Aid, founded in 2013, delivers high-quality, practical compliance courses across a range of sectors. Led by co-directors Emma Noakes and Dave Clegg, and supported by their fantastic team of trainers – including professionals from the ambulance service, police, military, and health & safety sectors – they deliver engaging, relevant training that truly makes a difference.

We look forward to many more years of collaboration, and we thank the entire Wiltshire First Aid team for their dedication, expertise, and unwavering support in partnering with Norland.
