Norland is proud to announce its new partnership with the charity Words Matter, an organisation dedicated to ending verbal abuse of children and promoting nurturing, respectful communication.

The partnership was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking Norland as an official ally of Words Matter alongside other institutions such as UCL and Barnardo’s.

As an ally of Words Matter, Norland joins its shared mission of improving children’s mental and physical health by ending verbal abuse by adults.

Aligning with Norland’s position as a pioneer in early childhood education, this collaboration reflects Norland’s ongoing commitment to child-centred practice and care in early childhood. By recognising the deep impact of early relationships and experiences on the psychology of a child, this partnership reflects the principals of Norland’s approach to early childhood education.

Principal Dr Janet Rose reflecting on the partnership, said: “At Norland, we recognise the profound impact that early experiences have on a child’s development and wellbeing, including how we communicate. Our evidence-based training promotes strategies for attuned communication such as Emotion Coaching. Partnering with Words Matter reinforces our commitment to respectful, positive communication – ensuring that every child feels valued and nurtured.”

Vice Principal and Head of Enterprise and Strategic Partnerships at Norland, Mandy Edmond added to this: “This collaboration aligns perfectly with Norland’s ethos and dedication to best practice in early childhood education. By joining forces as an ally of Words Matter, we are proud to advocate for an approach that prioritises kindness and respect in every interaction with children.”
