Professor Mandy Edmond

Biography

Mandy Edmond MA, FAHEP, is Deputy Vice Chancellor (Engagement and Enterprise) at Norland University of Early Childhood, where her leadership has helped transform one of the UK’s smallest specialist higher education providers into an institution of national significance and global influence.

Across more than two decades in further and higher education, including over 13 years at Norland University, Mandy has combined strategic vision with expertise in quality, standards, governance and regulation. She led Norland’s successful applications for taught degree awarding powers, first secured in 2019 and made permanent in 2025, laying foundations for its achievement of university title: a landmark for the institution, the sector and the status of early years education.

Mandy was instrumental in Norland’s outstanding 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework result: Gold for student experience, Gold for student outcomes and Gold overall, placing Norland among the top 12% of UK providers. She has championed the distinctive contribution of small and specialist institutions nationally, sharing insight through policy forums, sector publications and her work as a QAA Reviewer.

Today, Mandy is extending Norland’s impact through consultancy, training and values-led international partnerships. She brings Norland’s evidence-informed, child-centred expertise to organisations seeking to improve education, care and family services worldwide. An accomplished institutional leader and generous sector voice, Mandy turns vision into sustainable achievement by raising standards, creating opportunity and strengthening recognition of early childhood as a field fundamental to society’s future.
