Norland was delighted to host the Sustainable Fashion Week 2025 Hub in Bath.

Norland proudly joined the nationwide movement to champion sustainability in the fashion industry by hosting a Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) 2025 hub on Saturday, 27 September. This year’s theme, ‘The power of repair,’ inspired two creative, hands-on workshops for children.

The Bath Norland Hub featured ‘Repair Together’, a session for ages 10–17, where participants learned colourful hand-darning techniques, and ‘Reclaim and Reinvent’, for ages 7–12, which transformed old shirts into cuddly fabric friends using simple stitching and decorative skills. Organised and led by Norland’s sewing lecturers, Kate Jaeger and Jo Price, the workshops were designed to emphasise the importance of creativity and sustainability in everyday life. Proceeds from the sessions were donated to Labour Behind the Label

The week-long SFW programme offered events and activities hosted by SFW hubs across the UK and internationally, inspired by the charity’s sustainability pillars: re-wear, regenerate, repurpose and reconnect. Norland’s event formed part of the wider SFW programme, which ran from 27 September to 5 October, marking its fifth anniversary with hubs across the UK and beyond.

Senior Sewing Lecturer Kate Jaeger said: “This year, we were thrilled to once again be part of Sustainable Fashion Week. Our workshops aimed to encourage creativity – providing opportunities for young people to learn and explore stitching in a relaxed and fun way, while teaching practical skills that help protect the planet.”

Sustainable practices are woven throughout Norland’s degree and diploma, particularly through sewing and food and nutrition modules, which have remained a core part of its training for over 132 years. Through its participation in Sustainable Fashion Week, Norland aims to inspire sustainable activities for families and children of all ages.
