The role

Post title: Bank Receptionist/Administrators

Salary: £12 per hour

Hours: Ad hoc

Location: For this role you will need to be flexible and work across both of our sites as below:

Norland College, York Place, London Road, Bath, BA1 6AE/ 39-41 Upper Oldfield Park, Bath, BA2 3LB

Would you like to work for an organisation steeped in history but focused on the future and recognised worldwide as an organisation of excellence?  An organisation that promotes a healthy work/life balance and recognises and rewards achievements?  If so, then Norland is the place for you.

Our award-winning early years undergraduate degree and integrated diploma programme is world-renowned for delivering outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students. In March 2019 we were also granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) by the Privy Council and now offer our own BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree alongside the prestigious Norland diploma. We recently won the UK’s top Small or Specialist Provider award at the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, our third win and the sixth consecutive year in the top two. In 2021, Whatuni named us the top university in the UK for Enhanced Graduate Outcomes. In 2022, we won the Inspiring Course award at the UK’s 2022 Independent Higher Education Awards. In July, Norland’s marketing team won the Silver Award for the Best Prospective Student Journey and Experience at the national Heist Awards for university marketing teams across the UK.  We have been awarded the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF) Gold standard for delivering consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students in September 2023.

We are looking to appoint  a small group of bank receptionists who will be available to provide ad-hoc reception cover when required, sometimes at short notice. You will need to have experience of working in a customer service environment, liaising with colleagues and external parties and demonstrate the ability to provide a high-quality service at all times.  There will also be an opportunity to assist with administrative work and so experience in an admin-related role would be beneficial although training will be provided during an induction period.

The successful candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills, be computer-confident with the ability to use all aspects of Microsoft Office and have extensive experience of working within a receptionist or administrative role.

You will need to be a self-starter, with the ability to get on well with people, be highly organised in order to meet deadlines and work to a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.  A flexible approach to work and a friendly, approachable nature are key to being successful in this role.
