Katie Sykes BA (Hons), EYTS - Placement Officer

Katie joined Norland as a Placement Officer (Maternity Cover) in May 2023. Katie graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA (Hons) in English in 2017 before transitioning into childcare. She completed her Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT) in 2022 while working in a private nursery.

Following her degree studies and prior to achieving Early Years Teacher Status, Katie worked as a private nanny for many families and gained experience working with a variety of age groups. Katie has extensive experience with supporting others and has recently completed a counselling qualification as well as teaching mental health skills to vulnerable young people for many years alongside a local children’s charity. Following the successful completion of her EYITT, Katie was then promoted to a leadership role within her nursery where she gained valuable experience mentoring apprentices and supporting her team with their practice and professional development.
