Biography

A graduate of Norland, Lucy has worked as a private nanny and early years practitioner, experiences which contribute to her teaching across both programmes. As Student Engagement Manager, Lucy works with a team of Student Representatives to discuss feedback, potential changes to the course and/or student experience and to plan social and extra-curricular opportunities for students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Recent extra-curricular activities include Sports Day and Netball club.

Lucy gained her BA (Hons) studying part-time with the Open University in 2016 and an MA in Integrated Working with Children and Families in the Early Years from Pen Green in 2021. Alongside her work, Lucy is undertaking a PhD with Anglia Ruskin University, using a worlding methodology to work with nannies to gain an understanding of children’s voice in different spaces.

With her experience and research interests, Lucy is passionate about ethical, empowering practice, facilitating voice in all elements of her work and creative pedagogy on the undergraduate BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care, the Norland Diploma and the MA Early Childhood Education and Care strand Home-based Pedagogy and Care.
