Meet the team
Kathryn Aveyard BA (Hons) - Library Manager
Kat began working in the Library at Norland in 2018.
Her role involves working closely with the Student Services team in assisting students to access a wide range of information and research materials. She has a background in working in both Early Years and Library services. Kat has taught Drama and Singing sessions for pre-schoolers in a national network of weekend Performing arts Schools. After graduating in BA (Hons) Drama, Theatre and Media Kat decided to extend her professional development by completing a Childcare Learning and Development qualification whilst working in a Sure Start Children’s Centre.
Kat has worked as a Senior Nursery Nurse as well as in a Family Support team, running parenting groups and 1:1 outreach sessions as a Family Support worker. Kat has worked for seven years in BANES Public library service, originally specialising in the Music and Drama loans. Alongside her Senior Library Assistant role Kat ran a children’s book group, facilitated story times and led a popular series of Baby Bounce and Rhyme sessions. Kat currently facilitates Norland Baby Book Club, a monthly community book themed play sessions for children aged 0-5 years old.
While at Norland Kat has worked in a variety of roles including supporting the Placement team as a temporary Placement Officer and has delivered masterclasses as an Early Years Assistant Lecturer. Kat appreciates the unique opportunity her current position at Norland provides, combining her experience of working within both the early years and library sectors. Outside of work, Kat volunteers for the annual Bath Children’s Literature Festival and enjoys singing in a local acapella musical theatre show choir.
