Elspeth Pitman Norland Diploma, BSc (Hons), MBPsS, MSc, FHEA, PGCAP - Newly Qualified Nanny (NQN) Manager

Elspeth is the Newly Qualified Nanny (NQN) Manager at Norland. This role involves preparing, training, supporting and assessing our students in relation to employment as a nanny in particular in their first year of nannying, the NQN year. She is also the Designated Safeguarding Officer for the NQNs and their NQN Families. In her previous role at Norland, Elspeth worked as an Early Years Consultant supporting and training qualified Norlanders in their work, as well as carrying out training or projects for external companies and clients. As part of this role she was invited to teach in Japan for a Nursery/Nanny Provider and review policies for global companies amongst other things. Elspeth has had blog and magazine articles published for both nannies and parents. Alongside her main role as NQN Manager, Elspeth continues to teach on the CPD programme for qualified Norlanders and carry out training for external clients. Elspeth joined Norland in 2012 as a BA Lecturer and helped to design a new curriculum on both the BA (Hons) in Early Development and Learning and the Norland Diploma. Alongside this she gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and Fellowship of The Higher Education Academy. Elspeth is currently studying towards an MSc in Psychology (BPS).

Elspeth is a Norlander herself and graduated from Norland College in 2003. She went on to nanny for families around the world whilst also completing an International Montessori Teaching Diploma. In 2005, she also qualified as a Maternity Practitioner. Following the start of her career as a nanny, Elspeth continued to follow her passion of working with families and went on to work in the NHS and Sure Start Children’s Centres as a Community Nursery Nurse. She was then promoted to a Project Leader of a multi-disciplinary team in relation to health promotion and working with families. During this time she qualified as a parenting practitioner in two world renowned parenting programmes.
