Eloise enjoyed her hospital placement experience so much that she’s now training to become a paediatric nurse.

“I really enjoyed the placement side of the Norland training. Getting out into the community and coming into contact with children, whether it was at a nursery, school, special needs school, hospital or a family setting; I felt that I was making a really valuable contribution. I learnt so much from the other professionals and parents who all wanted us to get the most out of our experience. I loved my maternity ward placement and wanted to explore it further, so I based my dissertation on premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). To facilitate this, I was on the NICU ward for my final placement at Norland, which cemented my decision to work in hospitals in the future.”

“Norland will open doors for you that you could not even imagine; the world is your oyster. Your training puts you head and shoulders above the rest and the support from Norland and Norland Agency has been second-to-none in helping me make this progression.”

“The community and support from the staff and my peers at Norland were amazing; there was always someone there to talk to, ask for advice and get support. I found out that because of my degree from Norland, I would be able to take on a Healthcare Assistant role in a paediatric ward, but I wanted to be able to do more to help the children in my care.

“I decided to apply for a Postgraduate Diploma in Children’s Nursing at London Southbank University. It is a condensed two-year course rather than the usual three-year BSc course to train as a paediatric nurse as I already have a degree. In two years, I will be a fully registered nurse and entering the next stage of my career – I can’t wait!

“I remember hearing case studies like the one I am writing now at the Norland open day and thinking: ‘Wow that sounds incredible, I wonder what I would be able to do with my training?’ I cannot believe I am now training to be a paediatric nurse. I know I still have quite a long way to go, but with the practical and academic skills gained from Norland I am really well-placed to achieve this next step in my career.”
