Celebrating Set 46 at Heritage Day 2025
11 June 2025

Norland proudly celebrates its annual Heritage Day for final-year students to showcase the incredible creative talents they have honed over three years of degree and diploma study at Norland for their friends and family.
Norland was proud to host its annual Heritage Day on Friday 30 May 2025, a joyful and heartfelt celebration of the achievements of our Set 46 students as they prepare to embark on their Newly Qualified Nanny (NQN) year.
Set 46 students created themed displays in groups to demonstrate their skills across the Norland diploma including during their Sewing and Food and Nutrition modules. The displays featured many of the wonderful projects they have worked on during their three years at Norland and covered a range of themes from an under-the-sea display to Norland’s very own ‘Wards Farm shop’ — a nod to our founder Emily Ward — and a Mr Men and Little Miss themed display. The award for best display was presented to the imaginative and beautifully executed display titled ‘The Norland Laundrette’.

The very first Heritage Day as we know it today was held on 1 July 2003 for Set 25, when it was known as Display Day. The event heralded a new tradition for Norland and marked its move from Denford Park in Berkshire to its new home in Bath that year. Norlanders, future students and children from local schools were invited to Norland to view the creative works by students, which included fancy dress costumes, treasure baskets, wooden toys and mobiles. The following year, the event was held at the Bath Assembly Rooms.
The event has gone from strength to strength in the past 25 years, evolving alongside the Norland degree and diploma training programme.

Held across our Oldfield Park campus and Hayesfield School, the day brought together students, staff, and families to reflect on three years of hard work and achievements. Guests were welcomed to explore student displays of work from the Norland diploma course, delve into Norland’s rich archives, and enjoy the campus with their families before the formal awards ceremony in the afternoon.
During the ceremony, awards were given to students demonstrating skills and dedication in baking, sewing, placements, charity work, along with being a brand ambassador. The Norland choir performed, Head of Students Sam and Deputy Head of Students Lillie gave an inspiring speech to their peers, and Principal Dr Janet Rose gave a speech thanking the students for their hard work and outstanding creativity.
The event was especially meaningful for Set 46 and their families, offering a moment to celebrate their journey so far as aspiring Norlanders. This year’s Heritage Day serves as a reminder of the dedication they have shown to their Norland training, ahead of completing their Employment Weeks and setting out on their Newly Qualified Nanny year. Once they complete this fourth year of training as a probationary nanny in full-time employment with a family, they will earn the Norland diploma and coveted titled Norland Nanny or Norlander as fully qualified graduates are known.
