Norland, the world-renowned early childhood higher education provider, is proud to announce the launch of its first free online course – An Introduction to Babysitting – in collaboration with FutureLearn.

An Introduction to Babysitting is a free online course developed by Norland in partnership with FutureLearn, a global learning platform that delivers online courses for the world’s leading universities and brands.

Drawing on almost 135 years of pioneering expertise in childcare and education, this course is designed for teenagers and young adults who want to gain confidence and practical skills in babysitting. Participants will learn how to care for children’s physical and emotional needs, manage behaviour using positive strategies and communicate effectively with parents. The course also covers essential safety guidance and professional standards to help learners prepare for real-life babysitting situations.

Mandy Edmond, Norland’s Head of Enterprise and Strategic Partnerships, explains:

“Partnering with FutureLearn on this groundbreaking course allows us to share Norland’s unique approach to childcare with a global audience. This course distils Norland’s longstanding commitment to child development and family support into accessible, evidence-informed learning that helps new babysitters provide safe, reassuring care.”

The launch comes at a pivotal time in Norland’s journey to become the world’s first early childhood specialist university, reflecting its commitment to innovation and leadership in the sector.
