Tamsin Grimmer, Principal Lecturer, has co-authored a new book with Dr Aaron Bradbury, Principal Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University titled Love & Nurture in the Early Years.

Published by Sage, Aaron Bradbury and Tamsin Grimmer’s new book approaches the crucial role of love and nurture in early years practice. It combines real-life case studies with practical guidance for early years students and practitioners and is underpinned with essential theory.

The authors focus in on key child developmental factors including brain development, attachment awareness, the science of nurture and more.

Norland was honoured to host a book launch event for Dr Aaron Bradbury and Tamsin Grimmer at our Oldfield Park campus. The event, which took place on 8 June, included speakers Ben Kingston-Hughes from Inspired Children and Norland Principal Dr Janet Rose. Ben Kingston-Hughes gave a video keynote titled ‘Laughter as a loving and nurturing approach’, with Dr Janet Rose speaking on ‘The neuroscience of love and nurture’. Co-authors Tamsin Grimmer and Dr Aaron Bradbury also gave talks titled ‘Developing a loving and nurturing setting’ and ‘An introduction to epigenetics: how your experience shape the brain’, respectively.

Tamsin Grimmer is Principal Lecturer at Norland and is interested in schematic play, active learning, promoting positive behaviour and children’s emotional development. Dr Aaron Bradbury is Principal Lecturer Apprenticeships and Work Based Learning in Education, Early Years and Children’s Social Care at Nottingham Trent University and is External Examiner at Norland.
