The Norland Educare Research Journal is an international double-blind peer-reviewed journal, published annually in June, online only. It is an open access journal, offering free-of-charge publication to researchers and authors, and free access to papers for readers.

The journal has a distinct thematic focus on the interplay of education and care, and its scope is to challenge established early childhood discourses, practices and policies, and to construct situated knowledge on home-based educare that is of global relevance and local significance.

The roles and duties of editors

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief has full editorial responsibility for the journal’s content, including its adherence to the aims and purpose of the journal, as well as full responsibility for deciding which papers are to be published in line with the reviewers’ comments and in consultation with the editors, if required. The decision is based on the importance of the paper to readers and other researchers, its significance to the field, and adherence to the thematic focus of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief ensures that all submitted papers undergo double-blind peer review and notifies the corresponding author about the decision of the review process.

Editors

The editors have strategic and scientific oversight of the journal. They assist the Editor-in-Chief in ensuring that the journal maintains its scientific rigour and its relevance to the field, researchers, policymakers and the professional community. They ensure that publications adhere to research and publication ethics guidelines and that appropriate action is taken if concerns are raised about suspected infringement of such requirements (i.e., legal, libel, copyright and plagiarism), even if it is years after publication. If concerns raised are substantiated after an investigation, then a retraction, correction or other note will be published in the journal.

The editorial board

The editorial board assists the Editor-in-Chief and the editors in reviewing submitted papers and makes sound recommendations on the outcome of their review. In the event of allegations of research and publication misconduct, the board may assist the Editor-in-Chief and the editors with the investigation.
