Norland is pleased to announce that Dr Rebecca Digby will take up the role of Vice Principal, Head of Learning, Teaching and Research at Norland.

Dr Digby, who joined Norland in 2023 from her role as Subject Leader for Early Childhood at Bath Spa University, has worked in education for more than 20 years and within higher education for 13 years. Her roles have included Advanced Skills teacher, Deputy Head teacher, Senior Lecturer and Subject Leader across the early years, primary and post compulsory age phases.

Since joining Norland, Dr Digby has continued to publish research, which focuses on pedagogy and practice in early childhood education and is inspired by post-humanist and new materialist methodologies.

In her new role, Dr Digby will join Principal Dr Janet Rose and Vice Principal Mandy Edmond as part of the Norland Executive team.

On her appointment, Dr Digby commented, “I am delighted to have been promoted to Vice Principal, Head of Learning, Teaching and Research at Norland. I am excited to continue to work closely with our academic team in this role to ensure that research-led practice supports our aim to provide the highest quality of educational provision to a diverse range of students.

“In my own research, I am keen to explore the ways in which the pedagogy and practice informing the unique learning experience at Norland supports students to work in close partnership with children, families and communities.”

Principal, Dr Janet Rose, said, “We’re delighted to have Dr Rebecca Digby join the Norland Executive team alongside Norland’s long-standing Vice Principal, Mandy Edmond.

“Rebecca’s promotion to a Vice Principal role reflects Norland’s expanding provision as we move towards university status and the development of postgraduate courses for the first time at Norland. These postgraduate courses will focus on specialist topics in supporting babies and toddlers, fulfilling a much-needed gap in the higher education sector.”
