    Martin Clarke is the Chair of the Norland Board of Directors. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant who retired as a senior partner with Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte LLP) in 1996. Until 2007 he was chairman of two PLCs. He was Chair of the Board of Governors and Pro Chancellor of De Montfort University, from whom he was awarded an honorary Doctor of the University. For 24 years he served as a Governor of Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood. He currently chairs a small housing association providing sheltered accommodation for the elderly and is a non-executive director of several companies. In addition to being the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Martin is the Chair of the Nominations & Governance Committee and sits on the Finance Committee.

    Michael Bray is Chief Finance Officer of The Institute of Physics (IOP). The IOP is a corporate membership organisation and charity governed by the Charity Commission. Michael is responsible to the CEO and the Institute’s Council for the overall financial health and well-being of the Institute and its trading subsidiaries. He has overarching responsibility for the group accounts of the Institute, sets IOP’s financial and investment policy and is a key participant, in partnership with the Executive Board, in the development and implementation of Institute strategy. Michael is the Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

    Roberta Edwards is a commercial writer and copyeditor. She spent the greater part of her career working with high-value, heritage brands. Roberta currently reviews and writes about UK schools for a much-loved annual ‘insider’ guide. Roberta’s professional life, combined with being the mother of three children, has meant she has extensive experience on educational committees, both in the independent and state sectors. Roberta sits on the Nominations & Governance and Enterprise Committees.

    Kate Dicker has been part of the professional childcare world for over 35 years. She studied at Norland and graduated with her NNEB and Norland Diploma in 1986.

     

    Kate put her training into practice when she set up and ran a successful international mobile crèche company for 17 years travelling the world providing childcare services to the hospitality Industry and prestigious sporting events. In 2006 Kate founded Worldwide Kids, a specialist childcare consultancy organisation offering a wide range of consultancy services and staff training within the hotel and leisure Industry.

     

    In recent years, Kate has undertaken independent consultancy work in the Private Health and Country Club sector. Kate has a teaching qualification and in addition is a professionally qualified trainer, assessor and ISO45001 auditor. Kate is a member of the Enterprise Committee.

    Rosemary Heald is a qualified solicitor. After training at Clifford Chance in London, Rosemary spent the following four years working as a solicitor in the firm's commercial department. Following a move to Bristol, Rosemary became an Assistant Solicitor, and then Partner, at Veale Wasbrough Vizards. Rosemary subsequently worked for several years as the Group Legal Adviser to the Institute of Physics (IOP) based in London and Bristol. Since then she has held various trustee roles. She is currently Vice-Chair of the Red Maids' High School Board of Governors and a Governor at Bath Spa University. Rosemary is the Vice Chair of the Norland Board of Directors, the Chair of the Enterprise Committee and a member of the Finance Committee.

    Lucy Lovatt is a Norlander and after graduating, undertook various nanny and maternity positions in private households in the UK and mainland Europe. She also managed a private day nursery. Subsequently Lucy trained to become a paediatric nurse and worked at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool before completing a Public Health Degree with Manchester University. For the last fifteen years, Lucy has worked as a Health Visitor delivering a public health approach to improving outcomes for children, families and the wider community.

     

    As a Norlander Lucy takes an active interest in the evolution of the College and is proud to be part of the continuing development of Norland as a prestigious and unique specialist in Higher Education. Lucy is a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee.

    Alastair Page began his career as the co-founder and owner of a successful and innovative technology business (AIM) supplying complex vehicle tracking systems internationally. After qualifying with an MBA from the London Business School, Alastair worked as a Corporate Management Consultant at Marakon Associates. Returning to AIM as Managing Director, Alastair grew the business from a team of 18 to over 100 in the next seven years. Alastair currently works as an angel investor, business adviser and strategy consultant experienced in creating, building and buying and selling businesses. He is a trustee on the Board of two charities, Andrews Charitable Trust and Carers Worldwide. Alastair sits on The Audit Committee and the Enterprise Committee.

    David Timms spent 37 years of his career in full-time teaching, research and management roles at Leicester University, Manchester University and Bath Spa University. At Bath Spa David was a Professor of English and Deputy Vice Chancellor. David also spent some time working for the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), particularly as a reviewer of institutions applying for degree-awarding powers. He became a freelance higher education consultant in 2010. Clients have included higher education institutions and regulatory bodies from the UK and overseas. As well as continuing to undertake reviews for the QAA in a freelance capacity, David is a trained ‘European Expert’ for the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), and an experienced chair of ENQA reviews. David sits on the Nominations & Governance Committee.

    In her most recent role, Kriss Turner worked as a member of the Senior Management Team within the Faculty of Education, Health and Social Care at the University of Winchester.  In this strategic position, Kriss reviewed the direction and anticipated risks within the department, and advised the University accordingly.  Her responsibilities included writing briefing documents for the Vice Chancellor of the University. External appointments have included external examiner for a range of universities, external validator for a variety of programs across higher education and a member of the Board of School Trust. Kriss's areas of research include Mathematics Education, Workforce Development and Change Management. Prior to her retirement in 2016 Kriss was a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM), the Higher Education Academy (HEA), the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE) and Uplands Educational Trust (UET). Kriss is a member of the Finance Committee and the Remuneration Committee.

    Tracey Worth is the CEO of the Institute of Couriers, a professional organisation supporting the Last Mile Express delivery industry. Her career started in Logistics within the Army. This was followed by Partner and Senior Board membership of several Same Day parcel companies. Tracey’s logistics career covered change management, CPD training and sales. Tracey currently works with DfT Strategic Apprenticeship Taskforce (STAT) and is the Chair for Diversity & Inclusion. Tracey is a mother of two and employed Norlanders to care for her children for the first seven years of their childhood. Tracey is a member of the Audit Committee.

    Elizabeth has been appointed to the newly created role of Events Manager, taking responsibility for the BA (Hons) Early Years Development and Learning and Norland Diploma graduation ceremonies. She is also responsible for organising the 'value-added' curriculum of workshops and guest speakers. Elizabeth is keen to support the evolving charitable arm of the college, making links with organisations where students of the college may gift their time, as well as being proactively engaged in fundraising. The College Choir is important to Elizabeth, as is her interest in sharing music with children.

     

    Elizabeth takes delight in supporting the choir at external events. Being a Norlander, Elizabeth takes great interest in the history of the college, our traditions and our future.
