Norland was honoured to welcome representatives from the Office for Students.

The visit to Norland formed part of the Office for Students (OfS) annual programme of provider engagements, which are designed to enhance communication, assess regulatory priorities, and build two-way relationships with higher education institutions.

The engagement included a guided tour of Norland’s facilities, opportunities to meet staff from across the institution, and a discussion with students about their priorities and experiences. The day was made particularly memorable thanks to the contributions of Norland’s staff and students and by Jamie Black and Natalie Marshal from the OfS engaging thoughtfully with the Norland community.

The recent visit follows an earlier engagement in August, when Norland welcomed Professor Edward Peck CBE, the new Chair of the OfS.

The OfS visits provided valuable opportunities to showcase Norland’s distinctive golden triangle of provision – combining academic knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on experience. These engagements not only demonstrated the distinctiveness of Norland’s provision but also fostered meaningful dialogue about our role as a specialist higher education provider. The discussions extended to broader themes of regulation and governance within the sector, reinforcing Norland’s commitment to excellence and innovation in higher education.

Both visits come at a pivotal time for Norland as the institution prepares to take the next step in its application for university title, fulfilling its ambition to become the world’s first specialist university dedicated to early childhood.
