Norland is delighted to be hosting the Sustainable Fashion Week 2024 Hub in Bath.

Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) 2024, which runs from 23 until 29 September, is a communityled project emphasising the importance of sustainability in the garment industry, focusing on thepower of repair’

The weeklong programme offers events and activities hosted by SFW hubs across the UK and internationally, inspired by the charity’s sustainability pillars: rewear, regenerate, repurpose and reconnect.

Norland is delighted to be a part of SFW 2024, offering a series of events on Saturday 28 September. Activities include workshops for children and adults to share skills and creative ideas for mending and embellishing clothes, a clothes swap supported by a sustainable stylist, and a conversation led by advocates of sustainable fashion on how to develop a conscious wardrobe

Sustainable practices are woven throughout Norland’s degree and diploma, particularly through sewing, which has remained a core part of its training for over 132 years. Through its participation in Sustainable Fashion Week, Norland aims to inspire sustainable activities for families and children of all ages

The Bath Hub is organised by Norland sewing lecturers Kate Jaeger and Jo Price in partnership with local businesses Mark Pickles Sewing Studio and Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights. Proceeds from the events will go to supporting sustainability focused charities Fashion Revolution and Labour Behind the Label

Sewing Lecturer and hub organiser Kate Jaeger says “Norland’s commitment to community engagement and sustainability drives our excitement to host the Bath Hub for SFW 2024.

“Children are at the heart of all we do at Norland. We are delighted to be involved in Sustainable Fashion Week as the key messages align perfectly with Norland’s commitment to a more sustainable world for our children. We will offer workshops for all ages within our local community, a clothes swap and a discussion on how to develop a conscious wardrobe which we hope will help our local community to contribute to a sustainable future for all.”
