Norland staff were delighted to attend a Civic Reception hosted by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Bath Councillor Dine Romero, the 796th Mayor, at the Mayor’s Parlour, in the Guildhall.

Principal Dr Janet Rose along with other senior staff were fascinated to learn more about the history and role of the Mayor, to explore some of the many historic exhibits in the Parlour, and to discuss the importance of high-quality education and training for early years professionals, including those working in home-based settings such as nannies.

It was an especially poignant day for Norland, as the reception coincided with celebrations of the news that the 131-year-old early years specialist higher education provider had received a triple Gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023 for outstanding student experience and outcomes. This is the highest possible award in the national assessment of undergraduate teaching in UK higher education, led by the Office for Students, and Norland’s third achievement of the top accolade.

The Mayor said: “I was delighted that Norland’s senior leadership were able to visit the Mayor’s Parlour to learn more about the changing role of the Mayor over the years. I was even more delighted when they shared the news that Norland has achieved gold in TEF, an accolade very much deserved and a reflection of the high standards of teaching and practical training which means all Norland graduates leave as professionals extremely well equipped for their future careers.”
