Principal Dr Janet Rose will deliver a keynote address Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Council’s Early Years Conference on 18 October 2025.

This presentation from Dr Rose, titled ‘Supporting Young Children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) and Building Resilience’ will form part of the B&NES Early Years Conference, hosted at Bath Spa University

Organised by the B&NES Early Years team, the conference is aimed at early years practitioners across the region. As Norland Principal and co-founder of Emotion Coaching UK, Dr Rose’s talk will draw on her extensive experience across early years education.

The talk will explore the neuroscience underpinning self-regulation and sensory integration in young children and how these processes contribute to the development of resilience and emotional wellbeing.

In addition to theoretical insights, Dr Rose will share practical, evidence-based strategies that practitioners can implement in their settings to support their work in generating emotionally friendly and sensory smart settings. These include emotion coaching techniques and approaches to co-regulation.

Norland has recently partnered with Emotion Coaching UK and the Education Endowment Fund on a national research trial of Emotion Coaching training early years staff in the use of emotion coaching to support young children’s ability to self-regulate.
