Norland Grenfell Memorial Quilt panel to be exhibited at Sparks Bristol
1 June 2025

We are proud to announce that the Norland panel of the Grenfell Memorial Quilt will be publicly exhibited at Sparks Bristol throughout June, coinciding with the anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy on 14 June.
Sparks Bristol is a vibrant community hub and sustainable department store located in the heart of Bristol. It offers a unique space for exhibitions, workshops, and events focusing on sustainability and creativity. During a recent student trip focused on sustainability, Norland students had the opportunity to explore Sparks and engage with its mission, inspiring the collaboration.
The Grenfell Memorial Quilt is a powerful community art project led by ‘artivist’ Tuesday Greenidge, whose daughter survived the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. The project invites individuals and groups from across the UK and beyond to contribute quilt panels that express grief, solidarity, and hope. Its aim is to create a quilt that matches the dimensions of the Grenfell Tower by 2027, commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the tragedy and serving as a lasting tribute to the 72 lives lost.
In July 2023, Norland sewing lecturers Kate Jaeger and Jo Price met with Tuesday to begin the process of creating the 12x12ft panel created by Norland staff, students, and members of the local community through the Norland Sewing Bee.
Over the course of a year, participants came together to stitch, embroider, and applique messages of remembrance and resilience. The project not only showcased the creativity and community spirit of the group but also provided a space for reflection, connection, and healing. The panel has also been displayed at the Bath Central Library and Bath Abbey and was featured on BBC Points West.
