Norland appoints Emma Maskell as Head of Student and Academic Services

Norland is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Maskell as Head of Student and Academic Services.
Emma’s position as Head of Student and Academic Services is a pivotal role dedicated to ensuring the highest quality and standards as well as enhancing student experience and academic and pastoral support across the institution.
Emma joins Norland with a wealth of experience in higher education and policy with over a decade of experience driving innovation, strategy and student-centred reform across the UK sector and her appointment marks a significant step forward in Norland’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality support for its students.
In her recent position as Head of Student Engagement and Information at the Office for Students, Emma led national initiatives such as the National Student Survey (NSS), Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and Discover Uni. Her other recent experience includes working in specialist institutions such as the Royal Agricultural University.

Emma will head up the new Student and Academic Services team, encompassing student services, library, quality, student records and data. In this role, Emma will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive student support services, with a strong focus on mental health, disability support, academic success, and wellbeing. Her role will also be responsible for Norland’s compliance with the higher education regulatory framework, working with regulatory authorities including the Office for Students and JISC.
