Dr Janet Rose delivers emotion coaching training for The Care Leaders

Principal Dr Janet Rose presents virtual training on emotion coaching for professionals working in the care sector.
The Care Leaders will host a virtual training session led by Dr Janet Rose, Principal of Norland and co-founder of Emotion Coaching UK. The session, titled ‘Emotion Coaching: Developing self-regulation and supporting wellbeing’, will introduce emotion coaching as a trauma-informed approach to supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
Aimed at professionals in the care sector, the training will explore the research and rationale behind the practice and offer practical strategies for professionals in care, social work and education working with vulnerable children and families. It will provide attendees with a clear framework for responding to emotional challenges with empathy and boundaries, offer practical language to de-escalate high-stress situations, and give strategies and tools to embed emotional literacy and help young people regulate their emotions.
The Care Leaders supports professionals working in the care sector to empower young people to leave care services in a better place than when they entered. This training aligns with their mission by equipping practitioners with evidence-based tools to support vulnerable children and families.
Norland students are introduced to emotion coaching as part of their BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree and diploma, which includes modules focused on self-regulation. Recently, Norland partnered with Emotion Coaching UK and the Education Endowment Fund in a national research trial to assess the impact of emotion coaching on the development of self-regulation in young children.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Emotion Coaching UK trains and researches the use of emotion coaching as a practical strategy to support the development of children’s and young people’s self-regulation, behaviour, wellbeing and resilience. Dr Janet Rose’s expertise and commitment to this field continue to shape best practices for professionals in care, social work and education.
