Logging into Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 is used for accessing your emails, as well as the Microsoft suite located in the cloud (and available to download). This will allow you to create Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets.
Microsoft 365 also gives you access to OneDrive, which is your personal cloud storage. Here you can upload any documents you want to keep safe. You can also share documents from your OneDrive. It is strongly recommended that you save or backup all important work, such as drafts of your assessments, into your OneDrive. Norland is supplying you with a cloud-based and computer-based Microsoft 365 Suite license. This will allow you to use the Microsoft apps directly within your web browser or download and install the Microsoft software to your Windows/Mac computer. Read Microsoft’s guidance on downloading, installing or reinstalling Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac.
Here is a guide on how to download the Microsoft suite if you’d like to install it on your computer.
Once installed on your machine you will be prompted to register the software, this is done by logging in with your Microsoft 365 account.
First time logging in
- Log on to your 365 account by going to www.office.com and using your Norland email address and password.
- Once logged in, you may be prompted to set up additional authentication by linking a phone number or authentication app on your smartphone, just follow the on-screen instructions. You will only have to do this once. If you get stuck, there is a video guide.
- You can then familiarise yourself with the Microsoft 365 Homepage. It is recommended that you change your password which must be a minimum of 12 characters and should be something that you can easily remember. For instructions on how this is done, visit the Microsoft 365 website.
