Beginning university is nerve-wracking enough. Imagine moving to a new country for university. That’s exactly what Emma did when she moved from Utah to Bath to begin studying to become a Norland Nanny.

In her My Norland Story, she reflects on the feeling of being dropped off at the airport in the US, settling into life in Bath and the various early years settings she’s undertaken placements in during her first year.

“I chose to move to the UK to come Norland because there’s nowhere else like it in the world.

“I’ve gotten to do placements in schools and nurseries and I just got to do a placement on the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at the local  hospital which was really wonderful.

“My biggest concern was that I would be the oldest person in the set and I would not fit in. That has been completely proven wrong. Everyone I’ve met at Norland is so wonderful. We have people from all walks of life which is brilliant and I really feel like [in] my whole set, I know everyone and everyone is really close.

“I wasn’t disappointed in any way. Now that I’m here, Norland really feels like home.”
