Biography

Emma Maskell is an experienced higher education and policy expert, with over a decade of experience driving innovation, strategy and student-centred reforms across the UK sector. Emma comes to Norland having recently been Head of Student Engagement and Information at the Office for Students, where she led national initiatives such as the National Student Survey, Teaching Excellence Framework and Discover Uni. Her work also included postgraduate survey development to sexual misconduct prevalence research. She has previously worked in other smaller specialist universities, most recently the Royal Agricultural University.

Emma holds an MSc in Educational Research from the University of Exeter and is a published researcher in student engagement surveys. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she complements her academic background with targeted training in regulatory theory and coaching. With a reputation for strategic thinking, evidence-driven innovation and an unwavering commitment to enhancing the student experience, Emma continues to influence policy and practice at the highest level.
