Third-year student Roxanne has been featured in Business Insider in a new first‑person article exploring her journey to nannying, and to Norland to study for her BA (Hons) Early Childhood degree and integrated Norland diploma, and the transformative impact of her training.

The piece follows Roxanne’s earlier contribution to Business Insider’s short documentary filmed with Norland last year and offers a deeper look at her personal and professional development as she prepares to finish her degree training and embark on her Newly Qualified Nanny position.

Roxanne reflects on what first drew her to the profession, explaining that nannying “brought together everything I loved: working with children, developmental psychology, and being hands-on.” She shares how Norland’s unique blend of practical and academic teaching has shaped her confidence and understanding of childcare.

One of the themes Roxanne explores is the exceptional level of support and guidance she has experienced during her training: “The biggest difference at Norland is the level of care and attention to detail.” This, she says, has transformed the way she learns and applies knowledge on placement, where “I’m constantly seeing how my studies in the classroom translate into day-to-day care, and how different families and lifestyles shape the work.”

The article also highlights Roxanne’s journey to choosing Norland as an international student from the US, her experience of the academically rigorous and supportive environment than she had encountered previously, and her excitement for her upcoming NQN year and future career as a fully-qualified Norland Nanny.

The article was published online on 12 February 2026.
