Did you know that some of the most important brain development happens through play? We are delighted to invite you to join us for Norland Unwrapped: Undergraduate Degree Taster Session – The Science of Play on 4 November 2026 where we will explore the fascinating connection between play and learning in young children.

Research shows that play is not simply fun; it is an essential part of healthy brain development. We will explore why games, playful conversations and joyful moments are so important in our work with children, examining how these everyday interactions strengthen neural connections that support learning, language, emotional regulation, creativity, social skills and problem-solving. This is a subject that we explore on our BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree, and we are excited for you to gain insight into one of the subjects you will study when training to become a Norland Nanny.

Together we will discover:

  • What happens in the brain when children play
  • How adults can support brain development through playful interactions
  • Practical ideas you can use straight away

Please note: if you have a specific query about entry requirements or your qualifications, please contact [email protected] directly as they will not be able to answer individual queries during the session. We’d love to welcome you to one of our open events if you’d like to know more about studying at Norland. Book on an open event or watch our previous virtual events on all aspects of Norland student life, on our YouTube channel.
