Spanish Lessons

There are over 500,000,000 Spanish speakers in the world and it is the second most-used language on the internet. Speaking another language not only opens up a world of professional possibilities in the future but improves study techniques and memory.

Todo el Mundo has been providing Spanish lessons to children and adults in Bath since 2012 and they have put together a package exclusive to Norland students for A1 beginner’s Spanish lessons. Our course is a strong foundation in the language focusing on the basics they need to go about their daily lives in Spanish speaking countries. Ideal for those learning Spanish for the first time or who have learnt the basics before and would like to improve.

The Spanish course runs for a total of 47 lessons over a year and a half, with new groups starting every January. There is a free taster in November when students can meet the teacher and find out more about the lessons.   A certificate is awarded from Todo el Mundo to all students that complete the course with a minimum of 70% attendance. Some students will potentially miss the lessons whilst on placement but will receive summary emails and are welcome to attend Todo el Mundo's group evening Spanish classes held at Bath Academy to make up for missed lesson. Learning languages should be fun and sociable too, so participating students are invited to Todo el Mundo’s extra-curricular language events throughout the year. Classes at Norland College take place at the end of the College day so do not interfere with other studies. Currently lessons are 5:30-7pm every Tuesday during term time.

The Spanish course follows the Common European Framework Reference for Languages (CEFR) syllabus at level A1. The course is called Aula Internacional 1 and breaks the A1 syllabus into nine modules; covering grammar and pronunciation from both Spain and Central/Southern America. The teachers are qualified, native speakers and talk slowly to encourage maximum use of Spanish during class.

Activities include short dialogues, listening and reading comprehensions, video comprehensions, grammatical exercises and fun games. Lessons use a mix of media including the textbook, projectable images, videos, audio clips, card games and interactive online games.
